So far, have you been able to select your bets?
In these last few days, the number of election-related violence has escalated to new heights. There was a mayoralty candidate killed, a governor kidnapped by the NPA and a handful of supporters shot. To me and to my trained ears and brain, this signals just one thing: politics is increasingly becoming immoral.
What sort of individual would resort to aggression just to gain a momentary, earthly power such as becoming a senator or a local leader? It’s not like you become God when you sit in Congress. Is it worth getting your hands drenched in someone’s blood? As if they don’t know that they would end up in hell for murder. Because even if an RTC or the SC cannot condemn you with murder, well, Someone up above will.
Besides, the point in electing a leader is for that someone to serve us and not the other way around. We do not owe anything to these candidates: in truth, they owe us for putting them in power. And if anything goes wrong, ultimately, we are the ones to blame as well. If, in the first place, we have chosen the right people to govern us, then the issue of illegitimacy, cheating, graft and corruption, and plunder would have been avoided. In essence, democracy in this country would become a reality if we practice our Constitutional and God-given rights of freedom.
Today is the last day of campaigning for the elections and hopefully, it’s the last I’ll hear for a while. I’m super bored and numbed by all the crap politicians say they’ll do but never-ever do. They only look like decent, learned individuals when in truth they’re wolves in disguise. Take the following for example:
• Mark Lapid has been married to a Korean woman with whom he has a child.
• That freakin’ partylist nominees that almost employ all the people close to PGMA and FG (e.g. Santiago’s son, Abalos’ older brother, Palparan’s Bantay etc).
• Vote buying by giving out boxes of apples by Erwin Genuino in Makati.
• Giving out sample ballots filled with names with whom you should be voting for (e.g. the sample ballots found in ARMM that have Defensor, Zubiri and Pichay’s names on them).
• Datu Arroyo being campaigned by the AFP in Camarines Sur. Honestly, the First Family has no decency left. If this news can be indeed verified, then it means that PGMA and the AFP are such good pals. Such good friends, perhaps, that they held hands while abducting and killing those journalists and activists. Wow, now this is a conspiracy theory.
• Binay’s suspension by the Ombudsman is still unclear and unjust. The Office of the Ombudsman hasn’t confirmed former Councilor Ibay’s case against ghost employees in the City Hall.
• Legarda and Villar are said to be bickering about maintaining their No.1 position in the surveys.
The last SWS survey has again created waves of jealousy amongst GO and TU. The administration wants to discredit SWS because, according to them, the later is being biased and, for all we know, is being paid by GO to mess up the results. And again, when the GO retaliates, it’ll always be about they’re claims that TU will cheat because they know that in the coming elections, it will deliver a 12-0 count in favor of Erap’s group.
In today’s world, choosing which is bad or good is like walking on thin ice: one wrong choice and you slip, butt first. And falling on your ass bites, it hurts and it makes you lose a bit of confidence. If you don’t want to waste your vote, choose the lesser evil between PGMA and Erap. We all know they’re bad, but which side is less evil? If this isn’t the case the for you, then you have Kapatiran. Choose among Bautista, Sison and Paredes is you really want the decent sort to sit in the Senate. They may lack the machinery, money and media to promote their campaigns, they have the heart and the sincerity to serve us above everything else. But if you don’t want Kapatiran, then you still have Oliver Lozano (Marcos’ henchman-lawyer), Victor Wood (who?!), Richard Gomez (brain-dead), or Cayetano II (Alan Peter Cayetano’s double) to choose from.
In essence, it all boils down to you, to us. Without our votes, this country will remain in it’s sorry state unless we do something to change that.
Time to wake up guys.

I guess if it isn’t the showbiz personality, it’s the trapo that’s garnering a seat in public office. It’s really bad when a kleptocracy is propped up by a repeatedly gullible voter base. Sometimes I think the way these candidates exploit the the uninformed voter is a tyranny of the masses by proxy. Oh the lessons never learned!
Anyway, thanks again for stopping by to check my blog. You asked about Dashboard and Keane. I’m not really too keen with Chris Carraba’s band’s music, so I can’t really say anything about their stuff. As for Keane, they sure have a couple of hook-filled tracks that a random shuffle in my iPod catches and plays. Hopes and Fears is a good listen. Too bad Tom Chaplin had to go to rehab before they could really promote Under The Iron Sea in the US. That record should’ve really given them a higher profile had the circumstances been different.
