Let me just make it clear: I watch neither Eat Bulaga nor Wowowee but I catch glimpses of these shows when I have lunch in Melville, the nearest friendly carinderia in front of my dorm in Elbi. Eat Bulaga, I like genuinely, but Wowowee? with Willie’s intolerable and corny antics, no thank you. To be frank, I do not enjoy seeing the contestants in that show ‘get down and dirty’ or simply do whatever sort of task Willie wants them to. The thing is, the contestants need money; that’s one of the main reasons why they even bothered to join and so technically, they do a ‘kapit sa patalim‘ thing to invoke Willie’s sympathy on them. That’s not entertainment for me, though I’m well aware it is for some.
When Joey opens his mouth, you know it’s something big and often ugly. Truth is, I agree with Joey. If you’ll watch the succeeding clip, you can see that there is something wrong:
From what people told me, Willie should be holding just one number as opposed to two. Willie defends himself by saying that since that Wilyonaryo portion is new, he made ‘a few’ mistakes and was momentarily confused. But for showbiz’s sake, Willie had to air his side.
Isn’t it dramatic, the way these men want to argue about this thing on national t.v. with the kids watching and all? That’s parental guidance right there.
Well anyway, this word war between Joey and Willie is really getting out of hand. I mean, c’mon, now even Senator Roxas and the rest of the Senate wants to probe into this affair as well? Why can’t they let Laguradia do her job and slap these two overgrown men a thing or two about maturity and honesty? There are a lot of more important things to dip their hands into like Joma’s arrest, Erap’s verdict or PGMA’s impeachment. It’s the people’s taxes that enable the Senate to move, so please let’s not waste the precious resources on something as trivial as this.

This circus is a smokescreen to prevent the general public from discussing things that are supposed to mean much more and directly affect their day to day lives.
Somehow, this reminds us all of Juvenal’s panem et circenses comment echoing from way back in ancient Rome.

I’m viewing the ABS-CBN spin on this whole fiasco via the Filipino TV news being broadcast out here. I can’t believe they’re still smug enough to spin it in a sense that their “mistake” somehow is a national tragedy. Ugh…what drama.
The senate is seriously considering a probe into this whole thing too? WTF? How about considering a probe on price gouging over construction supplies and equipment during the annual tropical storm season or perhaps checking on the DSWD regarding the homeless and the unemployed? Nope, those won’t do well in the evening news as much as what’s going on with shenanigans at a noontime show, I guess.
Where exactly are these elected authorities’ priorities?

imee:
willie is a corny comedian, much more a bad dramatic actor.
volume-addict:
the 14th senate’s priorities lie where it’s members can get ample air time to themselves for 2010.

i think no one has the right
to jugde willie. if you feel bad bout what
happen, then keep it yourself
and focus on your life! im not
fan of both of them but i think
its so stupid to judge someone
who i think you dont know
personally. if your concern for someone
and you want to help, better pray for them!

Niña: you’re a bright UPLB student; of course you wouldn’t appreciate wowwowwee!! the show is basically mindless entertainment aimed at the lowest and broadest audience segment. pero agree ako: willie is so fucking corny and intolerable.

Willie’s such a loser on top of being so corny. They should have replaced him after that stampede incident a few years ago.
