After Pulido and Atty. Tamano of UNO, another group of hopefuls have filed another impeachment complaint against PGMA. They say it’s better and more detailed and is properly endorsed unlike the first two. Former Vice President Teofisto Guingona Jr, militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), human rights group Karapatan, church people and human rights victims filed the case at the office of the House Secretary-General Roberto Nazareno dreaming the almost impossible dream of ousting Her Highness. But then again, in a democratic country, be it even a pseudo one such as ours, one is free to believe in whatever fantasy they want just to protect themselves from further headache.
Let’s be realistic, shall we?
In a year, only one impeachment case can be filed against the President or any public official. And for that honor, we had Atty. Pulido finish first in the race. The problem with Pulido’s case is that (according to the opposition and a number of lawyers and human rights people) it is weak and it doesn’t contain any relevant or strong points to prove PGMA’s guilt in bribery, corruption and public misdealings. The adminstration filled House of Representatives made sure to pass Pulido’s ‘weak’ complaint to shield PGMA from a stronger impeachment case. Now that’s smart but it’s like selling your soul to the devil. And to thank the lower house, the Palace gave ‘tokens’ of their appreciation in the form of P500,000 slipped inside paper bags to look like they were giveaways from a party. The 190 Congressmen who were handed these bags didn’t even budge to oppose the unlawful presents, well except for some who stood their ground.
After realizing the Pulido complaint’s weakness, UNO wanted to file for a supplement impeachment case to strengthen the former. It included new charges like PGMA’s involvement in the extrajudicial killings, the NBN, ZTE and other anomalous government dealings and of course, new evidences that point to her cheating in 2004 and illegitimacy. The House rejected the supplement because it wasn’t properly endorsed by any public official and that it was an act without legal basis. The UNO filed it on a Monday morning but got rejected as early as Tuesday morning. That quick! I wasn’t surprise of the fast justice since, if you wil recall, Erap’s pardon came just two weeks after his guilty verdict.
Then after that, politicians and concerned citizens made a call to PGMA and VP De Castro to resign and have snap elections. They made an online petition to gather up signatures to back their campaign but I haven’t heard anything from that since I last made a post on it. It reminded me of a similar signature campaign launched several years back, with the same purpose, called The People’s Initiative. The idea behind it is noble and ideal but then again, when you’re living in Gloria-land, everything gets screwed up to disaster. It was rejected and deemed unconstitutional and a word war ensued as to how do we properly interpret the law. Nothing came out from that really.
And now this, the 3rd attempt this year alone to kick Gloria out. I do not know if these people are planning to amend the Constitution to allow several impeachment complaints instead of just one per year. It seems okay, I guess, but wouldn’t that take another so and so years? And after that, what? PGMA has escaped impeachment and would have probably turned the country into a Parliament.
It’s insane, really, how all these arguments are just being tossed back and forth and on and on until it gets trashed by the court and is closed. No one wins, no one ever does except when the devil intervenes which is why PGMA’s side always wins. While all of them are bickering and stabbing each other (now even Sen. Enrile and Speaker JDV are in word war of their own! Goodness these grown men should act like their age and position!) in the back, one Mariannet Amper killed herself because of extreme poverty. While most of them dine and enjoy luxurious lifestyles because of corruption, one family, out of a probable couple of million, is out of money, food and resources to get by for even a day. These people, these leaders whom we have put our trust into, are not doing their job. They think of nothing but themselves and the publicity they could generate from ‘intervening’ in these public matters. They need publicity to fuel their own agendas: their future campaigns for higher government positions in the future. They have misguided views, their priorities aren’t what they should be.
If we continue on like this, many of us would die of heartache and frustration. Worse, maybe more little Mariannets would follow.

ever wonder why pulido finish the race first? it was because he believes in traveling light, which enabled him to run faster than the rest. unlike the opposition, he didn’t burden his case with the heavy stuff. you’ll see, it’ll be quashed and forgotten soon. the same will happen to the call of the elite for pgma to quit. it doesn’t have the muscles to push it through. the elite may have the brain, but it’s only the masses and the poor who can do the dirty work for them. it takes a combination of both groups to put down the current administration. the elite will also have a chance if they’re willing to beat pgma on her own game. we know the military, congressmen, bishops, etc. can be bought for a price.

bottomline for me is that as long as the senate and congress are both filled with gloria-fans, nothing can be done to oust her. unless of course, she runs out of bribe money for them. i look forward to seeing that soon.

When will people realize that they’re the ones paying for all the drama that’s going on with these proceedings? They’re mostly futile efforts just to make it look like they’re doing something in the interest of the ordinary citizen. Let’s say that the snap election happens…what next? I’ll give you a good guess who gets the short end of the stick regardless of the outcome.
