Posted as of 12:06 pm on GMA News, is this another Oakwood? Not really because according to former VP Teofisto Guingona, “this is the new Edsa, the new People Power”. Sen. Trillanes and Brig. Gen. Danny Lim will be rearrested for sure after walking out of their trial at the Makati City RTC and, along with their allies, may be subjected to sedition charges.
As of now, The Presidential Security Group (PSG) has barricaded the Palace, the AFP is on red alert and the area around the Makati Peninsula is swarmed with foot soldiers and 4 tanks. Everyone is obviously tensed. I mean, who wouldn’t? What new government was Brig. Gen. Lim saying in his statement, a junta, coup d’etat? Several of Trillanes’ soldier allies have arrived at the Makati Peninsula wearing an ‘I’ on their sleeves. Something is definitely up and this isn’t something the Palace can just toss aside.
This is the 3rd attempt of the military to oust PGMA and the nth time the people have tried their luck on exerting their mandate to oust her. In her term alone, the number of impeachment attempts have reached at least 3 or 4 and the number of scandals challenging her corrupt practices and illegitimacy as president have reached too many to count and tolerate. Personally, I cannot blame those people for doing what they did, do and will do but I will not praise them for doing something out of the constitution and of the law.
To walk out of their trial is just irresponsible. They are causing too much drama and tension. Yes, we would like PGMA cut down, but if we can do it peacefully, then by all means let’s do that peaceful alternative. The military can exercise their military powers but let them not use it under the guise of protecting the people when in fact they only want it for themselves. In this website, the military has named Sen. Trillanes, Brig. Gen. Lim and the Magdalo soldiers as leaders of the Makati Peninsula commotion. But again, what ‘new government’ are they speaking of?
I fear what this event might lead to: more blood, intensified anger towards the administration and the opposition and another pile of unresolved issues. I admire their courage for calling on to PGMA to step down but I fear that they will use all things available for them to succeed. If this is the ‘new Edsa, the new People Power’, let this one be peaceful, rational, feasible and be mindful of the people’s safety and rights.
God blesss our country.

Indeed, we are a country in love with drama even our Senators turn to it for international exposure. Shame on Trillanes for doing this at the expense of the majority, 11 million of whom voted him to office.

The newspaper I read out here didn’t even give any mention of Trillanes by name–that’s how forgettable this PR stunt is going to turn out.
I think the writer for this latest reality TV show installment joined the picket line at the Hollywood writers’ strike.

It seems that Trillanes wants to be the leader of a military junta in the Philippines.
People power? More of elite and militaristic power. he he wants people power, he should have staged at EDSA, not seize a hotel

barrycade:
trillanes probably had the best intentions in mind but the way he repeatedly uses unconstitutional ways is just too darn bad.
volume-addict:
haha. probably but not quite. you’ll see, there’s more to this than meets the eye.
mocking:
i’m crossing my fingers that he won’t but if the will, shame, shame and shame on him. plus us who voted for him.
thanks for dropping by!

What really matters is for us Filipinos to get our act together and not rely on the messianic.
