This is the new form of Pinoy Soap for me. Every night I’d go out and eat at my favorite friendly carinderia, Melville, and stare at their mediocre t.v. set for the latest gossip in the Senate. I don’t know about you guys, but these events are what I consider showbiz extras rather than the tabloid-like headlines of T.V. Patrol e.g. Love scene sa Palos nauwi sa kagatan ng labi! or Angel Locsin, most requested na cover girl sa mga men’s magazines! I mean, who wouldn’t want to have a piece of JDV’s ass or hear about the administration’s latest tirade against everyone else?
The plot is perfect; it’s probably the most unpredictable story I’ve ever encountered since Frailty or The Usual Suspects. But unlike these two films, this one’s plot isn’t going to unfold in the last ten minutes of the film. There will always be two sides of the story; both manipulative, scheming and always trying to look like they’re protagonists. This story about JDV, the ZTE and the Arroyos isn’t about politics anymore: it’s about a personal family saga.
You could see the Arroyos’ hands in everything; with their Mom, their Dad and even those two young solons, Mikey and Dato. It’s a family matter alright and they’re personal enemy, it seems, is the entire country. One of their oldest trapo politico suddenly became their enemy and now, the usual administration dominated floor of the Senate is under pressure to make it look like they have everything under control. I guess they do since they have Jun Lozada in their custody for the time being. With him in their claws, no Senate Blue Ribbon Committee could ever summon him to court nor make him testify against EO 464 like Neri. For now, the new whistle blower is contained but will probably be contaminated with every minute he spends with the PNP.
As JDV leaps forwards and trashes his former boss, the next step for him is to severe ties with LAKAS completely. For the purposes of being consistent with his newly pronounced war against the President, he should properly turn his back on the people who double-crossed him and voted instead for Nograles. How the hell is he suppose to accomplish his ‘new moral revolution’ when his ass is still with LAKAS? Or is he just waiting for the opposition to hand him an invite?
This is one story where everyone has a hidden agenda, where every damn character sees it fit to become a pseudo hero when their need arises and this is where everyone has his own twisted plot to reveal sometime in the story. These guys know how to keep us guessing, or rather keep us in the dark.
The thing that is so spectacular about all the revelations is that suddenly they have a lot of information to say but did not say so at the time of the discovery of the anomaly. I can just conclude that they are just a bunch of desperate politicians trying to prevent further injury to their names so that they will still be “viable” candidates for the next election. Of course, those who are not directly involve will now present themselves as the concerned ones… grab pang soap opera nga talaga… hahaha
jdv’s revelations didn’t exonarate him from his past misdeeds. phil politics sucks.
The bad part about this whole spectacle is that the admission price per Filipino is very steep. As they go on and on about their petty squabbles, the peoples’ tax money is what’s at stake, wasting away.
Well with the Filipinos political memory along with the opportunists that desires GMA’s ouster, his sins may exonerate him. Though I doubt that it will shake GMAs world.
yeah, philippine politics can somehow look like one pinoy soap episode. the lines can become rather blurred at times. [sigh]
alex:
pinoy politics is better than prime time soaps! we should hand them awards next time.
mari:
i agree. he’s trapo personified.
johanns:
they have endless bouts in the senate about themselves when in fact they should make or pass laws that benefit us. primadonnas!
sargi:
pinoy voters have a very short memory span. e.g. enrile and gringo.
ophelynn yen:
i think the network producers should take their queue from our politicians. in that way, i think, we’ll end up with something better than chinovelas or koreanovelas.
thanks for dropping guys!
