The Power of the Collective

“We condemn and oppose all kinds of corruption. There could be no ‘moderation of greed,” – IBP president Feliciano Bautista.

Too bad. It is because of moderate greed that Jun Lozada is now being ‘investigated’ for charges of corruption and nepotism by the powers-that-be. The Palace has already denounced claims that the investigation is their form of ganti for being dragged into the ZTE Scandal by the Pinoy Jedi Knight’s testimony. Amidst constant pressure and chilling threats to his and to his family’s safety, Lozada is still willing to continue appearing before the Senate on Monday, where he will he accompanied by his elder sister, Carmen, to testify that the PNP had forced her to sign the affidavit seeking security for her brother.

The DOJ (and I think from the Office of the Ombudsman as well) had issued a search warrant for Lozada’s former company, Philforest, to secure documents and financial statements that would ‘check’ Lozada’s credibility and sense of morality. Philforest officer-in-charge Erwin Krishna Santos said that he handed the documents to the officer who came to their office willingly. Lozada is now on the defense as his personal life is appearing in full view of the public.

To be fair, Lozada is not entirely unscathed from corruption. He admitted to his insurance fraud which Sen. Miriam Santiago exposed in the Senate and again, he said that he allows moderate greed in the government contracts to which he got involved. And I think that it is only fair to check Lozada’s background more discriminately though unearthing his skeletons in this manner is so cunningly characteristic of a trapo administration. The timing is so perfect; as if on cue, all fact-finding committees of the government, the Office of the Ombudsman and the DOJ nonetheless, are doing what they can to discredit and destroy the Pinoy Jedi Knight’s already tainted reputation.

I say carry on; let them do what they want of Lozada because, if they haven’t noticed it yet, they are helping the people become more infuriated with the government and with PGMA most importantly. Let them come and expose whatever piece of sin or baho Lozada has committed in the past; in that way, they are helping the public see how human he is. He is flawed and he is in no way perfect but the most commendable thing about him is that he had to guts to admit his faults. Have you ever heard a word of apology from the crooks and professional politicians? Have they ever admitted their boo-boos? No, of course not. They always have the usual excuse of black propaganda from their enemies e.g. Pakana lamang po ng aking mga kalaban sa politika ang mga balitang iyan. Wala pong katotohanan iyan… and then instead of shutting the hell up, they’d even continue with, ‘Si Sen. X nga po ang dapat na ma-imbestigahan kasi sya po yung may gantong kaso ng electoral fraud and corruption etc, etc, etc.’ They, the politicians of this great but crumbling nation, have only to point their fingers to their enemies and they have shifted the blame and spotlight to somebody else.

But what about ordinary people like Jun Lozada who have no power or connections to the government to save him from an agonizing free fall? Just look at what’s happening now and you’ll know that for people like our Pinoy Jedi Knight, he is rewarded with black mails and taunts from everyone he’s ever name dropped. He has no way of fighting back and this is where we should step in.

“The limits of a tyrant are defined by the patience of those whom he [she] oppresses,” – Trillanes and Lim

Should we support the mass call for PGMA to resign? Should we join the rally this Friday in Makati? What we need now is to be aware, be vigilant and be strong in our beliefs. Whatever we believe in, please, let us be guided accordingly.

  • This is a chance for the likes of Atty. Bautista, Lito Atienza, Atty. Gaite, Joker Arroyo, Miriam Santiago, Mike Defensor, Gen. Razon and the other people from the governement to come out in the open and redeem themselves. This is their only chance to show the entire world what kind of people they are made of. Sana hindi nila sayangin ang kanilang mabuting pangalan dahil lang sa kanilang pagtatakip sa kasalanan ng iba.

  • I believe the people should come out and show their disgust at the Greed & Corruption of the administration people like an insatiable apetite for a jar of Jalapeños. What they do today…………….. might burn their A$$ tomorrow.

  • this is all happening because, as i read somewhere, our government has become a government of gloria, for gloria, and by gloria. we should get used to it. after 2010, when she becomes prime minister even the senate will be gone.

  • let us see what the administration’s so called “spin doctors” do about this booboo. After all, they were able to handle well, all the scandals and expose that came their way in the past. i just wish that they be able to use their “kunsensya” this time and not bend the truth as always …

  • lozada had his own share of corruption.. but still, you can never say that he isn’t credible anymore to say the truth..

sarap turuan ng Philo I ang mga bumabanat kay Lozada..

    nice blog!

too late. before, joker and defensor (and angara) were great law makers but now, they’re just clowns. sayang. talented people put to waste because they serve the wrong boss.

    pedestrian observer:
i do hope we find someone truly capable and truly just to lead us. because if its just another cory or fvr or god forbid, gringo or trillanes, the people will stay away. sawa na tayo sa hidden agendas.

    plaridel:
maghulos-dili ka! walang ganyan in the near future! hehe

    long gone:
i think the administration in general cannot grasp the whole idea of having a conscience. tsktsk.

    pinoy bochong:
credibility is now being manipulated to tailor the needs of the greedy and the corrupt. so sad.

    sure exchange links tayo. thanks.

    guys, thanks for visiting! ;)

  • Again, the political mudslinging! Nonetheless, perhaps the reason why Lozada was afraid to come out was due to the fact that he, too, is not scot free. But who is the government is clean anyway?

I pity Lozada that he may suffer from depression and all these negative feedback about him–and I am afraid too that all his efforts would be futile after all.

    belated Happy V-day!

  • inkblots:
i hope lozada gets to have a normal life after the trial although i’m not sure he can ever.
    belated v-day din po!

    Thanks for dropping by! ;)
